PM Shahbaz Sharif has announced the launch of the PM E-Bike Scheme on August 14, 2025, aimed at helping youth cope with inflation and reducing environmental pollution. The subsidy of Rs 65,000 per electric bike is being offered under the scheme and the remaining amount will be paid through interest-free loans. The government has set aside Rs 9 billion towards this initiative and this clearly shows the initiative will go beyond the announcement to the actual process. It is aimed that by 2030, Pakistan will have 2 million e-bikes, and there are intentions to put 40 Fast charging stations across all Islamabad regions.
What Is the PM E-Bike Scheme?
The e-bike plan is an initiative by the government to introduce electric motorcycles and vehicles at subsidized prices. Under this scheme:
- The government will offer a subsidy of Rs. 65,000 per e-bike.

PM E-Bike Scheme National Rollout & Vision 2030
According to the official sources, it is stated that:
The government plans to add at least 2 million e-bikes by 2030.The larger Electric Vehicles (EV) policy includes the introduction of:
- 53,950 e-rickshaws
- 99,155 e-cars
- 2,238 e-buses
- 2,996 e-trucks
- In the first phase, 40 fast-charging stations will be installed across the country. Islamabad will be developed as the model electric vehicle city. Every petrol pump in Islamabad will have EV charging points.
